The CE mark is the basis for the free movement of goods within the European Union. Door and window hinges are tested in accordance with DIN EN 1935.

A hinge is generally only tested in accordance with DIN EN 1935 with a single load-bearing hinge. SIMONSWERK hinges are typically tested with the largest possible number of opening cycles – 200,000 cycles – in accordance with standards. In addition, many hinges were tested with a significantly higher load capacity than the maximum prescribed by the regulations. An in-house production control system and annual inspections by ift Rosenheim now ensure consistent product quality.

In the future, all CE-certified products will have a classification code. This eight-digit numerical block contains all the essential information on the properties, load capacity and area of application of the hinge. With the CE mark, SIMONSWERK now has another seal of quality that is valid throughout Europe and once again emphasises the outstanding quality of SIMONSWERK products.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) form the basis of ecological building evaluations. They have been uniformly defined internationally on the basis of ISO standards and are a mandatory component of the European standardisation project “Sustainability of construction works”.

An environmental declaration for each individual product allows construction works to undergo a comprehensive ecological evaluation. To this end, life cycle assessments provide data on the entire product life cycle, from production and service life through to recycling. SIMONSWERK hinges are installed together with doors or window elements as system parts in buildings. Therefore, as part of the certified quality and environmental management system for the TECTUS, VARIANT, BAKA, SIKU and ALPRO product brands, comprehensive documentation of the required data was prepared.

With the ISO 9000 ff. series of standards, standards have been established which document the principles for quality management measures. Together, they form a coherent set of standards for quality management systems that are intended to facilitate understanding at national and international level. For years, SIMONSWERK GmbH has conducted its quality management in line with the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard and, in doing so, has dedicated itself to achieving top-level performance in terms of customer orientation, management responsibility and the involvement of stakeholders. The SIMONSWERK team is a large, committed community, whose actions and way of thinking are guided and shaped by process- and system-oriented management approaches, continuous improvements and fact-based decision-making.

In 2014, an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 was introduced with the aim of reducing energy consumption and the accompanying greenhouse gas emissions, paving the way to CO2 neutrality and systematically improving energy efficiency on an ongoing basis.

This is being carried out with a range of measures, which include digitally recording and analysing energy flows of the associated energy sources in an energy monitoring process, creating performance indicators, procuring energy-efficient machines and components, analysing and optimising processes and implementing plans of action.

We’re no strangers to making use of renewable energies either and we’re continually increasing the proportion we use in order to make further strides in climate protection.

The successful certification and regular monitoring of our management systems by external certification companies validate our efforts and motivate us to uphold and continually enhance these systems.
